Who We Are

RackHamsters.com (“RackHamsters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a hosting brand operated by Angry Hamsters Media, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with our website, inquiries, accounts, and hosting services.

This Policy applies to the RackHamsters website and customer-facing hosting services. It does not replace a customer’s responsibility for data they choose to store or process on their own servers.

Information You Provide

When you contact us, request a quote, create an account, or order services, we may collect your name, company name, email address, telephone number, billing and service address, account identifiers, service preferences, communications, and other details you choose to provide.

If an order requires identity verification, we may request additional information reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, verify authority, or comply with applicable law. Please do not include passwords, full card numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information in ordinary emails or support messages.

Orders, Billing, and Payment Information

To provide paid services, we may collect transaction records, invoices, billing contact details, payment status, and information needed to process an order or refund. Payment details may be collected and processed by a third-party payment service. Such processors handle the payment information needed to authorize or settle transactions subject to their own privacy practices.

We use order and billing information to establish service, process payments, address billing questions, prevent fraud, maintain business records, and meet tax or other legal obligations.

Website Usage, Logs, and Technical Data

When you visit our site or interact with our infrastructure, web servers and related security services may automatically record information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, URLs requested, date and time, response codes, and other connection or diagnostic data.

We use technical information to operate the site, troubleshoot errors, monitor performance, detect malicious traffic, defend our network, understand general site usage, and maintain reliable services.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website and the services used to operate it may use cookies, local browser storage, and similar technologies for website functionality, session management, security, preferences, performance measurement, and, where enabled, analytics.

Depending on the features and integrations in use, third-party security or analytics providers may collect information through their own technologies. You can generally manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent certain account or site features from working correctly.

Analytics and Advertising

We may use traffic measurement tools, such as WordPress/Jetpack statistics or comparable analytics, to understand site performance and improve the visitor experience. If we introduce advertising or remarketing technology, that technology may use cookies or similar identifiers and will be subject to applicable notice and choice requirements.

The specific tools used may change as our services develop. We will update this Policy when a material change affects how personal information is collected or used.

How We Use Personal Information

We use information as reasonably needed to answer inquiries, deliver quoted or purchased services, provision and maintain hosting accounts, provide technical assistance, send important service and billing messages, investigate abuse, protect our systems and customers, maintain records, meet legal requirements, and improve our website and service offerings.

We may also send information about new services or promotions when permitted by law and consistent with your preferences. You can opt out of promotional emails, but we may still send essential account, security, billing, and service communications.

Hosting Services and Customer-Managed Content

Customers may place websites, applications, files, databases, and other content on hosted servers. We do not claim ownership of customer content. Our personnel or infrastructure partners may have limited operational access where reasonably necessary to provision, secure, repair, maintain, or troubleshoot services; investigate credible abuse; respond to lawful requests; or perform work the customer authorizes.

Customers are responsible for the privacy and legal compliance of personal information they collect through their own websites and applications. If a customer needs particular data-processing terms, they should discuss those requirements with us before ordering.

When We Share Information

We may disclose information to payment processors, data-center and network operators, infrastructure suppliers, support and communications vendors, security or anti-fraud providers, professional advisers, and other trusted service providers when reasonably necessary to run the business and deliver services.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, investigate fraud or security incidents, enforce our Terms, protect rights and safety, or support a legitimate business reorganization or sale. We do not publish customer account information or sell customer records as a hosting product.

Service Providers and Infrastructure Partners

RackHamsters uses third-party infrastructure, connectivity, and other operational services where necessary. Such partners may receive limited information needed to provision, deliver, maintain, or protect the services. We seek to limit disclosures to what is relevant to the task and applicable legal obligations.

Use of a third-party provider does not change who you contact for RackHamsters account, privacy, or service questions.

Information Security

We use administrative, technical, and operational safeguards intended to reduce unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure of personal information. These may include access controls, service-provider protections, monitoring, and appropriate secure transmission methods.

No website, connected system, network, or method of storage can be guaranteed completely secure. You should protect your account credentials, keep contact information current, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account activity.

Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including active service delivery, customer support, accounting, fraud prevention, security investigations, compliance, and the establishment or defense of legal claims.

Retention periods differ by type of information and the applicable obligations. Cancellation of hosting services does not necessarily require immediate deletion of transaction records, fraud-prevention records, or material we must preserve by law. Customer-hosted data may be removed after termination according to the applicable service agreement.

Your Choices and Privacy Requests

You may ask us to review, correct, update, or delete personal information associated with you, subject to identity verification and applicable legal requirements. Depending on your location, additional rights may include access, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, or opting out of particular processing practices.

Send requests to [email protected] with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify your identity or authority before responding. We may decline or limit a request where an applicable law permits or requires retention or processing.

Regional Privacy Rights

Privacy laws differ by jurisdiction. Residents of certain U.S. states and people in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions may have additional rights and protections under their local laws. Where those laws apply, we will evaluate and respond to qualifying requests in accordance with the applicable requirements.

Depending on the context and jurisdiction, processing may be necessary to perform a contract, comply with a legal obligation, protect legitimate security or business interests, or act on consent. You may contact us if you have a question about the basis for a particular use of your information.

International Processing

Our website and hosting services are operated from the United States, and service providers may process data in other jurisdictions. Information sent to us from outside the United States may therefore be stored or processed in a country whose privacy laws differ from your own.

Where applicable law requires additional safeguards for international transfers, we will address the relevant obligations for those transfers.

Children’s Privacy

RackHamsters services are intended for adults and organizations, not children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children under 13 through our website. If you believe a child has supplied such information, contact us so we can review and take appropriate steps.

Third-Party Websites and Services

Links on RackHamsters.com may direct you to websites or tools operated by other parties. Those parties control their own privacy practices, and this Policy does not govern their independent services. Review their policies before providing personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy when our services, technologies, operational practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version with its effective date and give additional notice when required by applicable law. Your continued use of our website or services after a change does not override any privacy rights or consent requirements provided by law.
